Textile Museum
Local name: TextielMuseum
There is a reason why the Textile Museum is located in Tilburg - a city that in the 19th century was an important center of the textile industry in the Netherlands. In this place we can get to know both the present and the past of textile production. The exhibition includes weaving looms, a laundry, a demonstration of fabric and material production, a former factory hall transformed into a workshop, as well as finished products (e.g. clothes). You can also watch a movie about working in the textile industry.
The Textile Museum was opened in 1958 in a former manufacturer's villa, while since 1985 it has been located in the former textile factory of C. Mommers & Co, which was one of the largest workplaces in Tilburg. This place is also one of the most important institutions in the Netherlands that collects the work of jewelry designers. Of course, it is exhibited at exhibitions.
