Hooglandse church

Local name: Hooglandse Kerk

The church is a Gothic, three-nave basilica with a transept. Currently, it is in the hands of a Dutch Protestant church. The brick building has a huge window in the facade, covering almost the entire wall. The interior is devoid of decorations and decorations.

The church was built in the fourteenth century. Initially there was only a small chapel here. With time, it was expanded to its present size, and at the end of the 15th century it already belonged to the most important churches in the city. In the 16th century it passed into the hands of Protestants. It was connected with the total destruction of the interior decoration.

The main part of the church is a three-nave corps. Almost entire walls are occupied by tall, pointed windows. Cloisters adjoin the building. The interior is covered with a rib vault. To increase the capacity of the temple, empory was used here, where there were also benches for the faithful. The church has no tower. Only above the intersection of the naves there is a soaring turret.
