Museum SteamTram Hoorn-Medemblik
Local name: Museumstoomtram Hoorn-Medemblik
The historic Steam Railway Hoorn-Medemblik is a route running every day on a route about 15 kilometers long. The train consists of antique wagons pulled by a steam engine that allow passengers to feel the atmosphere of rail travel in the past centuries. The train stops at several historic stations from the second half of the 19th century.
As part of the trip by rail, you can move in time by getting into wooden wagons of the 3rd class, and for children prepared attractions as part of the so-called "Steam Safari". Safari includes participation in train operation, for example loading coal into a boiler and loading and sorting of mail.
In addition to the train, there are also ferry trips from Medemblik to Enkhuizen and a historic bus around Medemblik. The whole trip usually takes about four hours. There is also a Steam Engine Museum next to the queue, where you can see a collection of historic Dutch locomotives and wagons.
