Museum Kranenburgh
Local name: Museum Kranenburgh
The Kranenburgh Museum of Art in Bergen brings together a collection of works by Dutch painters from the Bergen School grouping. The collections have been collected since 1900 and among them we will find the works of such masters as Leo Gestel, Jan Sluijters, Charley Toorop and Gustave de Smet. In addition, the museum has collections of the city of Bergen and the North Holland Art Center.
In 1993, the museum was founded by three artists from Bergen: Karel Colnot, David Kouwenaar and Kees den Tex, who decided to find a place for many works of art by painters from the artists' village. The museum became an art center and its first headquarters was in Villa Kranenburgh. The collection includes 3,500 paintings and graphics, as well as a sculptural garden with works by Jan Toorop or Jan Willem Rädecker.
The attractions prepared by the museum also include often organized workshops for all ages, a museum café and a souvenir shop.
