Museum of Torture

Local name: Gevangenpoort

Established in 1882, the museum is housed in a former gate tower, which for 400 years (1428-1828) served as a prison. Visitors can see the torture chamber with the original torture tools used for punishment (e.g. condemning convicts), but also for torture during interrogations (iron thumb and shin clamps).
