Moco Museum
Local name: Moco Museum
Moco is an abbreviation of the English name Museum of Conetemporary Art. It is a private museum opened in 2016. Currently, it presents only one exhibition combining art by Banksy and Andy Warhol.
Moco is housed in a 19th century villa in the museum district of Amsterdam. Lionel and Kim Logchies, art lovers, and above all street art, founded them. The first and so far the only permanent exhibition was opened a few years ago. It shows the work of two outstanding, although very different contemporary artists. Andy Warhol, an icon of American pop art, experimented with form and refined his works in the comfort of his studio. In turn, Banksy is an anonymous artist working on the streets. He touches on current social and political problems, and creates his works on the walls.
The works of both artists were juxtaposed to show their differences and similarities. Touching current problems, interpenetration of various techniques and references to known pop culture themes are the starting points for a journey through the works of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century.
