National Museum of Montenegro
Local name: Narodni muzej Crne Gore
The National Museum of Montenegro is located in Cetinje, the historical capital of this country. It was founded in 1896 and consists of five departments: a historical, ethnographic, artistic museum, King Nikola's Palace and Biljard (Petar II Petrovic Njegos Museum). All these museums are located in buildings that are important monuments for the culture and history of Montenegro.
In the museum you can admire many valuable monuments. You will find here many items relating to the history of the Church (especially valuable icons and liturgical items), war relics such as flags, weapons and decorations, as well as valuable books and antique prints.
The National Museum of Montenegro deals with conservation, documentation and collection of the most important souvenirs related to Montenegro - its history, culture and traditions. Most of the exhibits come from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century.
