The rotunda was built on the site of the chapel of John the Baptist, which existed in the city as early as 1608. The present church was built in 1952-1970 according to the design of Joseph D'Amato. At the entrance there is a statue of the Virgin Mary, and inside you can admire paintings depicting the biography of St. John the Baptist.
