Villacidro is a traditional mountain town known for its organic food production. It produces olive oil, wine, liqueurs and cheese. It is eagerly visited by tourists because of its atmosphere and the opportunity to buy and taste local products.
The city is situated at an altitude of 900 m above sea level and is an excellent viewpoint over the surrounding mountains. The surrounding areas encourage walks and excursions. The largest and most famous waterfalls in Sardinia, Piscin'Irgas, the Mannu Wall and the spectacular cascade of the Sa Spendula waterfall are located here. A great attraction of Villacidro are trips to the surrounding canyons and the possibility of kayaking.
In the town itself, the historic buildings with a baroque church, numerous tenement houses with nice facades and narrow, cobbled streets have been preserved. Currently, there are many restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as shops with traditional food products.
