Roman Amphitheater

Local name: Anfiteatro Romano di Cagliari

The Roman amphitheater, of which only ruins have survived to this day, was carved in the rock at the turn of the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The audience could seat up to 10,000 people. Initially, the amphitheater was used to organize fights between gladiators and wild animals. There is a beautiful view of Castello - the oldest district of Cagliari.
