Via Vittorio Veneto (colloquially Via Veneto) is one of the main streets of Rome. Established in 1880. Tourists walking along it can admire many interesting sights, including the marble fountain delle Api by Gianlorenzo Bernini, Palazzo Excelsior and Palazzo Coppedé.
Via Veneto gained fame in the 1960s after entering the cinemas of Federico Fellini's movie "La Dolce Vita", which takes place in the immediate vicinity. Since then, it has become a very popular place, celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn, Gary Cooper, Orson Welles, Tennessee Williams and Coco Chanel have become famous in local restaurants.
The street was named after the victorious battle of Vittorio Veneto in 1918. Italian troops led by General Armando Diaz forced the Austro-Hungarian army to retreat, capturing about 300,000 soldiers.
