Temple of Ercole Vincitore is a temple located at the Forum Boarium on the banks of the Tiber in Rome. It was most likely erected in honor of Hercules, also known as Olivarius, guardian of olive growers and traders.
In the 12th century, the temple was converted into the church of St. Stephen.
The tabernacle was erected around 140-120 BC. It was probably founded on the initiative of the African Scipio Junior and Lucius Mummius Achaean. The building, made of marble, is based on a tufa crepeidom. It was given the form of Tolos, surrounded by a colonnade of twenty columns in the Corinthian architectural order, and measuring 8 meters high. Only nineteen pillars have survived to this day. The colonnade is covered with a coffered ceiling. The inner chapel is 20 meters in diameter. In the central part of the room there was probably a statue of Hercules.
