Museum of Souls in Purgatory
Local name: Museo delle Anime del Purgatorio
The Museo delle Anime del Purgatorio in Rome, or the Museum of Purgatory Souls, has collected a collection that is to confirm the existence of purgatory. They found themselves in it, incl. nightgown with the imprint of a deceased woman's hand on the sleeve, a prayer book saved from a fire, also with the imprint of the hand and the nun's cover. Visitors will learn here stories related to the presented objects.
The collection is exhibited in one of the sacristy halls of the Sacro Cuore del Suffragio church. It was created by priest Jouet, who after a fire of a church once standing here, saw a human face on one wall. The clergyman wanted to document the existence of souls who wander, not having peace after death.
The neo-Gothic church of Sacro Cuore del Suffragio is called the "small cathedral in Milan", it comes from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, it was designed by Giuseppe Gualandi.
