Museo Nazionale di Palazzo Venezia gathered a rich collection of paintings from the period from the fourteenth to the fifteenth century. You can admire it, including works of such painters as: Carlo Maratta, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Beato Angelico, Guido Reni. Visitors will also see here a collection of antique weapons, examples of Japanese majolica and Flemish tapestries.
In two museum halls (Sala del Mappamondo and Sala Regia) there are works of illusionist painting. These paintings were created by: Andrea Mantegna and Donato Bramante. A collection of weapons that includes exhibits from the 9th to the 17th century (including Viking weapons) is very popular among tourists visiting the museum.
The museum collection consists mainly of objects from the private collections of Pope Paul II. It shows the period from the fall of the Roman Empire to the early beginnings of the Renaissance.
