The headquarters of the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum in Rome is located in Villa Helene, a historic Art Nouveau manor designed by the artist himself. You can see a rich collection of Andersen's works from various periods of his activity, original furniture, books, documents and photos, as well as personal items.
The museum's collection includes over two hundred sculptures made of plaster and bronze, two hundred paintings and three hundred graphic works. The building in which the artist lived and worked was built in 1922-1925.
Hendrik Christian Andersen was born in Bergen, Norway. In the 1890s he set off on a journey through Europe. Finally, in 1896, he settled with his brother Andreas in Rome. He lived in the Italian capital for over forty years. The museum was opened in 1999 in connection with the 59th anniversary of the artist's death.
