The Basilica of Saint Cecylia in Roman Cathedrals is the rector church of the parish of Saint Chrysogon and the titular church with the rank of minor basilica. Inside the temple you can admire the figure of Saint Cecilia by Stefano Maderno, a mosaic depicting Saint Paul, Saint Cecilia and Pope Paschalis I, numerous frescoes by Paul Bril, Andreo Lili and Antonio del Massaro, a statue of Saint Sebastian by chisel Lorenzetto, the altar by Guido Renia depicting Saint Valerian Saint Cecilia.
According to traditional accounts, the first church in this place was built in the third century thanks to the revelation of Saint Cecylia to Pope Urban. The church was expanded in 822, when the relics of Saint Cecylia were laid there. The temple underwent modernization in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Since the 16th century, the church is looked after by a congregation of Benedictine sisters whose monastery is next to the temple.
