The Basilica of Sant'Agostino in Rome is a three-nave temple built in the Renaissance style. You can admire the sculpture "Madonna del Parto" by Jacopo Sansovino and the fresco titled: Rafael Isaiah's Prophecy. The dome decorated with frescoes by Pietro Gagliardi from the 19th century is impressive.
The sculpture "Madonna del Prato" initially probably depicted the figure of Agrippina holding a small Nero in her hand, but was recognized as a pagan work and transformed into a statue of a Christian character - currently Mary is holding Jesus in her arms.
The basilica was built in the 20s of the 15th century, it was expanded at the turn of the 70s and 80s, the work was managed by Giacomo da Patrasanta and Sebastiano Fiorentino. There are tombs here: poet Maffeo Vegio and Saint. Monika, mother of Saint. Augustine. The interior decorations were financed from donations from the faithful.
