Saint Basilica Agnieszka za Murami (Basílica de Santa Inês Fora Dos Muros) dates from the 7th century. The interior of the temple is decorated with, among others frescoes by Giuseppe Chiari. The most valuable sacred monuments include the Byzantine mosaic from the 7th century, depicting St. Agnieszka and two popes: Symmachus and Honorius I.
In the main altar in the silver reliquary, relics of St. Agnieszka and Saint. Emerenziana. The temple's underground is occupied by catacombs with a 5-kilometer network of corridors. They come from the 1860s. Visitors will also see here the head of Jesus made of marble - this is a seventeenth-century copy of the sculpture created by Michelangelo.
The church was founded on the initiative of Pope Honorius. During the time of subsequent popes, incl. Hadrian I's temple was expanded. In the fifteenth century, two new towers were built.
