The former palace of the Kings of Sicily erected in the 9th century in Arab times, and expanded by the Norman rulers of the island in the 12th century. It represents a style that is a mixture of Norman, Arab and Byzantine influences. His best example is the palace chapel decorated with Byzantine mosaics. Currently, the palace houses the seat of the Regional Assembly.
