The Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore is a church in Milan, located within the municipal ring of canals. It was built in Roman times (probably the 4th century), and then rebuilt several times over the centuries. It is located near the medieval Ticino gate and is one of the oldest churches in Milan. In the basilica you can see the painting of the Madonna del Latte, historic organs, the chapel of St. Aquiline, the mosaic of Christ the Legislator, the chapel of the Citizens and the chapel of Saint Sixtus.
In front of the basilica there is a replica of the statue of Constantine and a group of ancient columns of San Lorenzo. In the vicinity of the basilica there is a park, which is a frequent place to take pictures of the object.
