Grado is a seaside resort with sandy beaches and a shallow sea, perfect for relaxing with children. There is a high-quality accommodation base and a charming old town with many restaurants and bars.
The village is located on the Adriatic Sea, in a lagoon. It is often called the pearl of this part of the Italian coast and is considered an exclusive resort of high standard. Along the shore there is a tourist district with hotels, apartments and boarding houses and the modern Diga Promenade. It delights not only with sea views, but also with remarkable architecture and design of elements such as lamps and benches.
The beaches in Grado are sandy and quite wide. In the center, there is the largest paid beach with the possibility of renting umbrellas and sunbeds, and a bit further there are city beaches where you can relax with your own equipment. Due to the location in the lagoon, the sea here is relatively shallow, and during low tide an additional strip of land appears on some beaches. The most important beaches in the center have a deepened bottom and you can swim there even at low tide.
The Grado center has a nice, historic, recently revitalized development. While walking among the tenement houses, you can see the influences of Austrian architecture. from 1815, for a hundred years, these areas were under the influence of Austria-Hungary. Today, the memory of this is the culture, culinary influences and a slightly greater distance between the inhabitants compared to, for example, the inhabitants of the south of Italy. There is no shortage of restaurants, cafes and bars in the old town, and the nightlife goes on until late hours.
