The Sicilian nature reserve was established in 1995 to protect a cave of great speleological, palaeontological, biological and archaeological importance. The cave is inhabited by colonies of Myotis Myotis bats, as well as insects, crustaceans, spiders and mollusks, perfectly adapted to underground conditions.
