Terra Sancta Museum

Local name: מוזיאון טרה סנטה

The Holy Land Museum is a museum facility opened in 2016, which is to show the roots of Christianity and protect objects from holy places found during excavations. The exhibition located in the center of the Old City of Jerusalem shows, among others, fragments of the floor from the fortress of Antonia, in which Christ was scourged, elements of the Jerusalem temple from the time of Herod or Byzantine mosaics.

The museum operates in the Custody of the Holy Land in the Franciscan monastery. It is located in the old monastery of the Flagellation of Christ. A modern, multimedia exhibition is still under development. Successive fragments of it are being opened. Sightseeing is accompanied by the sound of the old city, religious songs and prayer texts. Visualizations of holy places from biblical times are displayed on the walls. Items collected from archaeological excavations in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Nazareth were collected here. Subsequently, it is planned to open museum branches in other places related to the beginning of Christianity.
