Menahema Begin Memorial Center is the official monument devoted to the achievements of the Israeli politician and sixth prime minister of the country Menahem Begin. The facility is located in Jerusalem, on the Hinnom Hill, overlooking the walls of the Old City and Mount Zion. The center houses a museum inspired by the life and leadership of the former head of the Israeli government. The center was officially opened by Prime Minister Ariel Szaron on June 16, 2004.
The museum introduces the history of life and achievements of Menahem Begin, from his childhood in Poland to becoming the prime minister in Israel. The gallery collection includes multimedia exhibits, historical reconstructions, interactive exhibitions and documentaries. The museum's collection also includes original documents and photographs.
The center, which is to serve as an educational point for young people, also houses a library collecting books from Begin's personal collections, conference rooms, a cafe and a small synagogue. The use of modern solutions, such as touch screens and surround sound narration, allows participants to learn about the history of Menahem Begin and appreciate his achievements.
