The First Station in Jerusalem is a former train station whose building has become the city's cultural and entertainment center. In the center of The First Station there are several shops and catering facilities, as well as numerous cultural events. The location of the facility and the attractions offered made The First Station a popular meeting place.
First of all, The First Station remains an object of great historical importance. On September 26, 1892, the first train appeared at the station, solemnly welcomed by the board, people, and Jewish, Arab and Arab dignitaries. On August 15, 1998, the station was officially closed, and in 2013, after several years of restoration work, HaTakhana HaRishon, or The First Station, a place dedicated to entertainment and culture was established here.
In the railway yard there are wooden terraces, stalls with food and souvenirs. Several modern restaurants and cafes were opened around for residents and tourists. The First Station is also an arena for concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events. On the premises you can find a Visitor Center, providing information on events, tours and workshops offered by the station.
