The Museum of Technology and Transport in Budapest is one of the oldest museums on this subject in Europe. The museum exhibitions present to visitors the history and development of various means of transport: railways, passenger vehicles, boats and planes. The main exhibition includes a collection of models of locomotives and wagons in a scale of 1: 5 from different periods. Part of this collection is also the actual reconstruction of a 1900 railway station with a train.
As part of another exhibition, we'll see the history of urban traffic and the variety of vehicles used at different times: horse carriages, first motor vehicles, motorbikes, bicycles. The museum also shows the history of public transport in Budapest. A separate exhibition is dedicated to the history of flying machines and presents Hungarian and foreign aircraft. The museum's curiosity is the cabin of the first Hungarian astronaut, Bertalan Farkas, who took part in the Soyuz 35 and 36 missions, spending almost 8 days in space in total.
