The Palace of Arts in Budapest is a gallery and exhibition space where you can see, above all, the works of contemporary Hungarian and foreign artists. The Palace of Art does not have its own collections or permanent exhibitions, it operates only on the basis of temporary exhibitions. Exhibitions of traditional forms of fine arts and applied art take place here, as well as breaks with tradition of modern installations and performances.
The Palace of Arts building is located at Plac Bohaterów, opposite the Museum of Fine Arts. The Palace of Arts was designed by Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herczog and represents the classical style. The Palace of Arts has a library and a bookshop, as well as a cafe with a view of Plac Bohaterów.
Heroes' Square and both museums were established at the end of the 19th century, as part of the so-called The millennium celebrations, when the Hungarians celebrated the thousand years of their country's existence. During this period, many monumental buildings were built in Budapest.
