Built in 1628 according to the design of Francesco Morosini, the fountain is one of the symbols of Heraklion. It has the shape of a flower consisting of round bowls surrounding the main pool. It is decorated with figures of lions. In the past, the statue of Poseidon was located on the central pedestal, but it was removed during the Turkish rule.
