The Orthodox cathedral of the diocese of Chania was built in 1860 on the site of an earlier church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is a three-nave basilica with a belfry at the facade. Inside you can see an extensive iconostasis, neoclassical frescoes and numerous icons.
