One of the symbols of Chania. The lighthouse was originally built by the Venetians in the 16th century. A massive stone base has survived to this day. The upper part was built in the nineteenth century, when the island was occupied by Egyptian troops. It is a round tower with carved lions of Saint Mark. At night, it shows ships the way to the port.
