St. catholic church Ludwika w Munich is a three-nave basilica, built in an arcade style, modeled on the Romanesque Lombard churches. Inside the temple is the largest group of frescoes in the world. The sculptural composition Jesus and the four evangelists are also unique elements of the interior.
The church Ludwika was built in the years 1829 - 1844 during the reign of Ludwig I of Bavaria and was dedicated to the patron of the king, Saint Ludwik. The temple was consecrated on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The king's court architect Leo von Klenze and Friedrich von Gärtner are responsible for the design and implementation.
The designer of the fresco set was Peter von Cornelius. Most of his paintings were made by his students and colleagues. He himself painted the main fresco depicting the Last Judgment with dimensions 18.3 m × 11.3 m, which is next to the Last Judgment of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel one of the largest frescoes in the world.
