Immenstadt im Allgäu is a quiet, cozy town in the Bavarian Alps, which combines the charm of historic buildings and numerous opportunities for active tourism. In addition to the mountain environment, its advantage is the proximity of the Great Alpine Lake.
The town is picturesquely situated at the foot of the 1,400 m above sea level Mittaggipfel mountain. It can be reached on foot by walking routes and the year-round Mittag train. From above, there is a beautiful panorama of the area, and at the upper station of the lift, several trails begin that allow trips for several hours.
A great attraction of the area is the Great Alpine Lake. On its shores there are several beaches and bathing areas. You can also surf and sail among alpine nature. Alpsee Bergwelt, the longest summer toboggan run in Bavaria, is waiting for those thirsty for thrills. In its vicinity there is also a large rope park.
Immenstadt itself is the oldest town in the Allgäu region. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages. The center has retained its historic character with colorful tenement houses and several interesting churches. An important monument is the 16th-century Immenstadt Castle, which today houses a museum and rooms for cultural events.
