Fürth is a historic town in the historic Franconian region which, together with Nuremberg and Erlangen, forms the so-called Franconian Tricity. It is famous for its excellent cuisine and interesting museums on various topics.
According to legend, Fürth was supposed to be assembled by Charlemagne in the 8th century, but the first written records about him are more than 200 years later. In the Middle Ages it was an important trade and craft center, and from the 19th century it began to develop as an industrial center. At that time, the city was much more closely connected with the nearby Nuremberg, and these ties persist to this day.
Much of the buildings in the Old Town of Fürth date from the 17th and 18th centuries, but there are also older buildings such as the Gothic Church of St. Michael. In the center there is the main square and the Green Market, around which there are tenement houses. Some of them were built from the so-called half-timbered walls.
A highlight of Fürth are many interesting museums. The most famous of them are the Radio Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Criminal Museum. You can learn about the life history of the city's inhabitants in the City Museum.
