The fountain was unveiled in 1984 on the pedestrian street in Nuremberg. The sculptures placed on it depict successive stages of married life. The expressive sculptures aroused great controversy from the beginning, and the fountain was considered an example of pureness. Currently, however, it is one of the most recognizable buildings in the Old Town.
