Eberbach Monastery
Local name: Kloster Eberbach
Former Cistercian monastery founded in the 12th century by Bernard of Clairvaux. One of the most important monuments in Hesse. Its interiors were used during the filming of the movie The Name of the Rose. Buildings of the cloister have Romanesque and early Gothic features. The monumental church is very strict and devoid of decorations. Within the monastery, you can also see an arcaded courtyard, a refectory covered with a rib vault and a library.
