Herrenchiemsee Fountains

Two monumental fountains are the highlight of the square in front of the Herrenchiemsee Palace. They are located in wide, symmetrically arranged pools. They are dedicated to the mythological goddesses, Fortuna and Fama, which are allegories of happiness and fame.

The fountains were built in the second half of the 19th century. Each of them consists of three circular tanks arranged in the shape of a pyramid. Their tops are crowned with sculptures depicting the aforementioned Roman goddesses. Both buildings were restored in the 1990s.
