Aleja pod Lipami connects Pariser Platz with Schlossplatz, and its history dates back to the 16th century. The first limes were planted along the boulevard in the first half Of the seventeenth century, on behalf of the Grand Elector Frederick William I. Walking along the Alley under Lips, you can see the Brandenburg Gate, Deutsche Staatsoper, Humboldt University, German Historical Museum, equestrian statue of Frederick the Great, and the Madame Tussaud Museum.
Aleja pod Lipami is 1.5 km long and is divided into two parts: east and west. The eastern section of the boulevard is characterized by impressive buildings, tenement houses from the 17th and 19th centuries and the lack of linden trees that were completely removed when the area was included in the city's fortifications. The western part of the alley has undergone frequent transformations, which makes its buildings more modern.
The linden trees currently appearing in the western part were planted in 1947, because the entire pre-war stand was destroyed during World War II.
