Since the Middle Ages, Trouville-sur-Mer has been a fishing village with a small harbor and fish market. Its importance began to grow in the nineteenth century with the popularity of recreation by the sea. Villas for patients were built here quickly, the land sloping towards the sea was turned into gardens and a promenade. From the beginning of the resort's development, writers and artists from Paris, some 200 km away, began to come here. Alexandre Dumas, Gustave Flaubert and Marcel Proust liked to spend their time here. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Trouville-sur-Mer painted Monet, Corot and Huet.

Even today, the city is eagerly visited by representatives of the artistic world as well as film and TV stars. Gerard Depardieu and Jean-Paul Belmondo have their houses here. The city center has retained its turn-of-the-20th century resort style. Among the attractions of Trouville-sur-Mer are the Casino next to the beach and the pier, and the Villa Montebello Museum, where you can learn about the history of the village. When visiting Trouville-sur-Mer, you cannot miss Boulevard Fernand Mouraux with numerous eclectic and Art Nouveau tenement houses, restaurants and cafes.

An attraction that particularly attracts people to Trouville-sur-Mer is the sandy and wide Grand Plage. In the season, it is well developed, with numerous opportunities to spend time, from simply lounging on the sand, to renting water equipment. The beach is also great for long walks.
