Théoule-sur-Mer is a Mediterranean holiday resort situated on the slopes of the Esterel Massif. There are numerous picturesque coves with small beaches in its vicinity.
The town is not a compact development, but it is made up of villas and houses scattered on the slope. The center is concentrated around the train station. The famous coastal road, the Corniche d'Or, starts here and takes you all the way to Saint Tropez.
Until the early twentieth century, Théoule-sur-Mer was a small fishing village, but the increase in the popularity of seaside recreation and the discovery of the Côte d'Azur by elite from all over Europe changed its face. There are holiday villas, some with private beaches and luxurious guesthouses. Even today, some of the beaches around Théoule-sur-Mer are private. They are usually situated in coves with holiday homes and villas. Among the most interesting villas in Théoule-sur-Mer is the Spherical Palace built by Pierre Cardin.
Théoule-sur-Mer offers seaside attractions typical of a holiday resort. On the beaches you can rent recreational and floating equipment. There are bars and restaurants and clubs in the evenings. It is not as bustling here as in the most popular coastal towns, but enthusiasts of quiet relaxation and long fun will find something for themselves.
