Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is a ski and health resort at the foot of Mont Blanc. It offers several hundred kilometers of perfectly prepared ski slopes of varying difficulty, great apres-ski facilities and a thermal swimming pool.

From the beginning of the 19th century, the town began to receive its first patients. Initially, it developed primarily as a thermal swimming pool, which used hot mineral waters. Among his guests were, among others Maria Curie-Skłodowska, who came here several times for treatment and died during the last stay. Today, in many holiday resorts and hotels, the local waters are used in swimming pools and spa centers. The thermal baths of Saint-Gervais are the largest independent bath and recreation complex.

After the 1924 Olympics in Chamonix, construction of advanced pistes began in Saint-Gervais-les-Bains. Skiing was practiced here before, but it was not until the interwar period that it flourished. The Saint Gervais Mont Blanc Resort is located at an altitude of 850 to 4,850 meters. At an altitude of 1,800 meters, and in summer you can reach the Bionnessay Glacier at 2,370 meters above sea level by tram. There are also several dozen ski lifts and cable cars.
