The Museum of Nature and Hunting is a private institution in the center of Paris. Her three exhibitions on weapons used in hunting, hunting trophies and art related to hunting show the relationship between man and nature. Hunting weapons, paintings and sculptures referring to the subject of hunting were collected here, as well as trophies brought by founders from hunting on different continents.
The museum was founded in 1964. It currently occupies two historic buildings, the 17th-century Hôtel particulier de Guénégaud and the Hôtel particulier de Mongelas from the 18th century. The founders of the museum were the marriage of Francois and Jacqueline Sommer, Paris industrialists who were passionate about hunting and activities for sustainable natural development.
The museum collection is primarily a private collection of the Sommer marriage. It shows the history of hunting and hunting traditions in France. You can see here not only old weapons, but also paintings and sculptures giving the image of hunting since the Middle Ages. In the Hunting Trophy Hall, there are specimens of animals from various continents, including the polar bear, bison, tiger and rhino.
