The Paris hippodrome is located in the Vincennes forest in the east of Paris. It has been operating since 1863. It is the largest horse racing track in France. It can seat about 40,000 spectators. Music concerts are also held here. Queen, Metalica, Elton John and U2 played on the hippodrome.
The hippodrome was built during the great expansion of Paris in the mid-nineteenth century. It was destroyed during the Franco-Prussian war, but it was quickly raised from the ruins. It currently covers an area of 42 hectares. Its track is 2 kilometers long.
The most important horse races in France are played at the Hippodrome. International hippic events, horse exhibitions and competitions are also held here. Both riders and sled races are racing. The results of the competition can be bet at the ticket office.
