Leucate is a town on the south coast of France known to be a great place for windsurfing and kitesurfing. It also has nice sandy beaches and the picturesque Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Park.
The town is situated on a spit between the open sea and a coastal lake. There are beaches and marinas above both reservoirs, from which you can go on a cruise. There are excellent conditions at sea for windsurfers and kitesurfers. The beaches that are Leucate's main attraction are covered in sand. In many places you can sunbathe yourself, but there are also places with sun loungers and umbrellas for rent.
Both Leucate and the neighboring villages on the spit have nice, compact buildings, many restaurants and cafes and a quiet, idyllic atmosphere. In and around Leucate, you can visit the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Park with a very varied sculpture. There are both coastal lagoons and pine forests as well as the low, but very scenic, limestone massifs of La Clape and Corbieres.
