Ramparts of Villefranche-de-Conflent

The well-preserved ramparts surrounding the city of Villefranche de Conflent since the 17th century have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The fortification system has existed almost since the founding of the city in the 11th century - in its present form it is the work of the famous engineer and builder, Sébastien Vauban.
