Les Sables-d'Olonne is a seaside resort with a beautiful promenade and a harbor from which the most famous round-the-world regatta starts, the Vendee Globe.
The oldest part of the city is located on a small peninsula, which is separated from the rest of the buildings by a port channel. It is home to the former port district, which is now bustling with social life and is full of restaurants and bars. There is a sailing marina and a large part of the local hotels on its premises.
Nevertheless, attractions await you in the district of Les Sables-d'Olonne, Rudeliere. it is a recreation and leisure center of the city situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Its heart is a promenade and sandy beaches, including the Great Beach and the Presidential Beach. There are also sports grounds and the Zoo Les Sables-d'Olonne in the area.
