Miro is a private gallery of modern art, housed in a carefully restored building of the Renaissance church of St. Rocha. The gallery was founded in 1987 in Berlin, and in 1994 moved to Prague. Thanks to the financial support of Karel Gott - the most famous Czech singer in the world - exhibitions of works of several dozen artists were organized in Miro, including such famous ones as Picasso, Miró, Dalí, Chagall, Rodin and Warhol.
The gallery is run by the Trebbia Foundation, founded by Miro Smolák, which carries out artistic projects, supports artists and NGOs, and deals with obtaining sponsors and grants. Since 2000, the foundation has awarded the International Trebbia Award - an award given to people distinguished for the development of contemporary art. Among the previous winners were, among others Daniel Libeskind, Annie Leibovitz, Grażyna Kulczyk, Jan Saudek and Ronnie Wood.
