Adolf Loos is considered one of the greatest architects of Central and Eastern Europe in the first half of the 20th century. During the interwar period, he worked in Pilsen, where he created interior designs for several apartments belonging to wealthy Jewish families. Apartment on Bendova 10 is now open to the public.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the Pilsen authorities decided to reconstruct the most important works of Adolf Loos. Most of them were in a very bad condition. Based on documentation and photos, it was possible to reconstruct, among others, an apartment on Bendova 10. It belonged to the family of chemist Wilhelm Kraus before the war.
The apartment is finished using the highest quality materials. The rooms are arranged in an enfilade, which thanks to the use of mirrors seems to have no end. The ceilings are made of dark wood, which looks like a reflection of the floor. The furniture is very simple and functional, but thanks to the high-quality materials, they look luxurious.
