The Hercules Fountain was built in 1687-1688. It is one of the seven baroque fountains of Olomouc, which were part of the city's old water supply system. It depicts the character of a Roman hero fighting a hydra.
The fountain's author was a local stonemason, Wacław Render. The sculpture crowning it was made by Michael Mandik. The figure of Hercules stands above the polygonal, decorated pool. In one hand it covers a checkered eagle, the symbol of the city of Olomouc. In the second he holds a club that fights the hydra attacking him.
