Regional Museum

The regional museum shows the history and nature of Karlovy Vary and the surrounding area. The historic building houses collections of local crafts, glass and tin products, as well as an ethnographic collection. A new multimedia exhibition opened in 2017 leads through the history of the spa from medieval times to today.

The museum was founded in 1865. Throughout its existence, it has received numerous donations from private collectors. Thanks to this, his collection includes, among others, a collection of books about the spa, the oldest of which come from the 16th century, folk art collections and firearms.

Above all, the museum shows how Karlovy Vary has changed over the centuries, from a craft settlement to a modern spa. Thanks to multimedia, it was possible to create moving, three-dimensional images that transport visitors in different periods of time. The exhibitions also include products of local crafts, sculptures and paintings from local churches and noble residences, as well as a large nature collection containing specimens of rocks and minerals, herbariums, as well as examples of the local fauna.
