Museum of Wax Figurines
Local name: Muzeum voskových Figurín
In the past, the church of Saint Łukasz in Karlovy Vary belonged to the Anglican community. It is a neo-Gothic building, on the Latin cross plan with massive buttresses and soaring tower. Currently, it houses the Wax Museum from the collection of the famous Tussauds family.
The church was built in 1877. His appearance alluded to romantic neo-Gothic buildings. It was made of red brick with sandstone decorations. Above the intersection of the naves there is a square tower covered with a hip roof. Above the entrance you can see the rosette covering the majority of the wall. The windows contain neo-Gothic stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Holy Bible. Inside, there is a film about the history of Karlovy Vary in the interwar period.
However, the biggest attraction of the interior is the wax figure collection. Their first exhibition took place in 1770, and the permanent exhibition in Karlovy Vary appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. You can see one of the oldest wax figures in the world. They represent politicians, rulers, people of culture, musicians, writers and athletes from around the world.
